Wills, Probate & Powers of Attorney

Making a Will

Many people put off making a Will.

A Will sets out how your money and property is to be distributed on your death. It can be changed by you at any time in your lifetime. As things change so can your Will.  Making a Will makes sure your wishes are carried out and saves problems for those you leave behind.

Probate & Estate Administration

Probate is the process of proving that a will is valid (if there is one) and confirming who has authority to administer the estate of the person who has died.  Before the next of kin or executor named in the will can claim, transfer, sell or distribute any of the deceased’s assets they might have to apply for a grant of probate.  We can help you through the process, formalities and complications.

Court of Protection

A deputy is an individual appointed by the Court of Protection to make decisions on behalf of an individual who lacks the mental capacity to take the decisions themselves. A deputy may be appointed to make decisions about a person’s property and finances or about a person’s health and welfare.

Powers of Attorney

A power of attorney is a legal document that enables you to appoint one or more trusted people (known as attorneys or donees) to manage your affairs and make decisions on your behalf in the event that you lose mental capacity. There are two types of LPA, one that deals with finances and one that deals with health.
